The following is a list of known issues. These are problems, glitches, or inconveniences which the technicians are actively working to solve but are not yet solved. Sometimes this is due to a lack of information about the problem. Sometimes it is because we are waiting for a vendor (e.g. Microsoft, Adobe, Apple, Cisco, NetGear, etc.) to get back to us with a fix.
A recent (late December 2005) upgrade of our staff email server caused it to disable a protocol named “SSHv1.” This is what NiftyTelnet uses to connect to staff.cairodurham.org, which in turn allows the use of “pine” for very fast email reading and sending.
This feature is no longer supported. Please use SquirrelMail to use email.
The current version of SquirrelMail (1.4.5) contains a small bug that is triggered after viewing or downloading an attachment. Once the attachment is viewed, that message will appear to be blank until the user logs out of SquirrelMail and logs back in. The message itself is still in the server, which is why it comes back after a logout/login cycle. It just “disappears” during that login session.
Work-around: Logout and back in. The message will be available again. We expect a future update to correct this issue.
Fixed: When we moved to a new server on July 10, 2006, a newer version of SquirrelMail was installed. This version (1.4.6) fixed this bug.
