VersaMail / PalmOS Email Config

This document describes how to configure VersaMail for a staff email account. VersaMail is an IMAP & SMTP capable email program for PalmOS based PDAs.

• Run VersaMail
• In the menu, select Accounts and then Account Setup.
  • Click “New...”
  • Make the following settings:
    • Account Name: CD
    • Mail Service: Other (top of the list)
    • Protocol: IMAP
  • Click “Next”.
  • Enter your username (e.g. “jkikpole”) and password in the correct places.
  • Click “Next”
  • Enter the following settings:
    • Email Adress: <your_username_here>@cairodurham.org
    • Incoming Mail Server: staff.cairodurham.org
    • Outgoing Mail Server: mail.cairodurham.org
  • Click “Next”
  • Click “Advanced”
  • Enter the following settings in this order:
    • Turn on “Use Secure Connection (SSL)”
    • “Port Number” should automatically change to 993.
  • Click “Next”
  • Enter the following settings:
    • Port Number: 25
    • Turn on “Use Secure Connection (SSL)”
    • Turn on “Use authentication (ESMTP)”
    • Enter your username and password in the appropriate places.
  • Click “Done”
• In the “Options” menu, select “Preferences”.
  • Click on “Server”
  • Enter the following settings:
    • Root folder: “mail/” (Use the / but do not use the quotation marks.)
    • Turn on “Deleted Mail” and set it to “Trash”
    • Turn on “Sent Mail” and set it to “Sent”
    • Turn on “Delete mail on the server after deleting from VersaMail.

Other settings should be set as personal preference and workflow dictate.
