Clickable Email Addresses

Description

Some web pages, programs, and web-based applications (e.g. PowerSchool) allow you to click on an email address or name and begin writing an email message. Since we use web-based email programs (e.g. SquirrelMail) this is typically difficult to do.

Thanks to a program named Yahoo!Mailer, you can use these links with SquirrelMail.

Note: These links are called “mailto:” links, because they are built with the pattern “mailto:name@example.com”.

Directions

Most of the work to setup Yahoo!Mailer is already done for you. You just have to turn it on. To do that, follow these steps:

  • Login to any MacOS X computer.
  • Open Macintosh HD → Applications → Utilities.
  • Find and open “Yahoo!Mailer”.
  • Click on the button named “set URL“. Do not change the pre-filled text.
